does match.com use people's fb account to make a fake profile on their site?
So my friend decided to try match.com and told me she saw that my boyfriend had an account with them starting three weeks ago. I confronted my boyfriend about it while he was at work accusing him of cheating and he said he did not have an account with them or was ever on their site. When he got off work he told me that he looked into it and said that dating sites like match.com use random peoples fb, friendster, myspace, etc account to make fake profiles for their dating site to make it seem like they have a lot of candidates.

The information included stuff like his age, location, sex etc that was on his fb including one of his pics. But the dating site also had his hair color, height, and description of what type of girl he was looking for and that wasnt on his fb.

I looked online and all I could find was that dating sites did make fake profiles but it did not say whether or not they stole info and pics from fb to make a fake profile of that person on their site.

Please help I need to know whether he is cheating or not.

seems doubtfull a company would do that. Go make a fake account with a lady he would be attracted to, see if he responds. Or creep his computer or phone. Spying pays off, but it might not be the answer you want. Either way someone is lying!

Match does not need to make fake profiles - they are the largest online dating site in the world with over 17 million active members who have paid accounts and visit the site at least once a month

A site that had 100 members might set up fake profiles - one of the largest sites in the world is not going to do this, especially because they could be sued for identity theft, copyright infringement, invasion of privacy and a host of other charges if they were ever found guilty of copying someone's Facebook details without that person's express permission

So either your bf is lying, or one of his friends or enemies is pranking him and set up a profile using his details. But Match did not set up this page

Want to see if he's lying - wait a week or so and don't say anything else to him about it. He'll think you've forgotten about it. Then have one of your friends that he doesn't know contact him. Send a quick message saying something like "Hey, I like your profile and would love to chat. Message me back if you are interested" -- and see if there is any response. A fake profile is not going to message anyone back. If he answers back then your friend can ask some questions to find out if it's really him or if someone he knows is using his pictures. If you've recently seen a movie, then have your friend's profile ask something like "I have to take my brother to the movies. Have you seen anything lately?" or "So, what are your plans this summer. Are you going anywhere or staying in town?" or "Where do you hang out. I think I may have seen you before at xx bar or xx restaurant or xx gym (wherever he hangs out). You look familiar" -- then see how he answers to find out if this is really your bf or not. Then she can try to set up a time to meet him - even for a casual date at Starbucks and see who shows up
