confused about the "seen message" on facebook?

A person knows when their message has been seen on facebook, it will state the day and time of the message seen but I recently sent a message to someone a few days ago and she has been active on facebook since (posted status, pictures etc) yet the message does not say its been seen, why is this? I know when i receive a message that's the first thing that I click on so I am confused...thankyou

I think there is a way to change your settings so people can't see when you have seen somethig

they have noted the message but havent read the message yet

its because she has not seen your message its in her inbox but she never read it on clicked on your message.
If she clicks in inbox and sees message then it will be shown as seen at.........

some people will avoid opening the message on purpose, because they dont want you to know that they have read it, and dont know how to mark it as unread

other people will read it, and then just mark it as unread, because they dont want you to know that they have read it

look there is two scenarios that have maybe happened:

2- she didnot see the message
