Why is the Obama administration seeking a device to "monitor social media sites"?

Is nothing sacred anymore. The story says they want to "gather intelligence" and '"monitor key words" used. What's up with that?

Marketers already do this. The make money sharing this info with marketers.

All a computer does is look up stuff on the internet. Perhaps they are looking for a security system for offensive words (profanity and such) and anyone who is spreading false lies on the internet. It is seeking a device, called a network security system, which will be monitored by robots or the fbi or the army or the police to catch any offensive profanity. The next thing before you know it, they'll be patrolling everything on the internet.

The us intelligence community have been monitoring mass communications for decades.. only thing that's changed is the laws so now it's legal. And you can now "disappear" for something you post.. or for any reason at all.
