Why can't I find my friend on Facebook?

So I have a guy on Facebook as my friend and we talk quite a bit on fb. One day I was going to message him and I couldn't find him. I searched the search bar, my friends list, and other people's friends lists, but he was nowhere. So I asked him in person if he had blocked me on fb, and he said no. But y am i blocked from finding him?
He did not deactivate his account, because I can find him from my friends account, just not mine

If he is still deactive you'll not find him.
Also try browsing your previous chat with him. If his name is in Black without link he might not be Active. And if you can't open his old messages and his name is blackened He has Blocked You.
