Changed relationship status to single, but nothing shows up?

I recently got out of a relationship, and in hopes of avoiding some people asking me if her and I are still dating, I had wanted Facebook to show an update in the newsfeed and on my timeline that I went from In a Relationship to Single, but it isn't showing up. I tried waiting a few hours for something to show up, but it still there is nothing. Help please? Thank you.

Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours before changes are made. Also check to see if your settings are to share with friends only or public and not only me.

Sometimes if you update something on facebook it takes awhile for the change to take. It goes for anything. Display name location change etc.
