How did they like my Facebook status?

I updated my status, and a person that unfriended me liked my status.
I did not tag anyone, and the privacy for my posts is Friends Only.
Also, none of that person's friends (or our mutual friends) liked it, so I don't know how they were able to see it.

When someone unfriends me, does it mean that I can't look at their stuff but they can?

I always thought it meant that none of us can look at each others posts (since both profiles are private)

Followers are like friends but not friends it allows them to see your posts
there should be a way to hide from followers also
