Depending on privacy settings, if the person you broke up with is still on your friends list then yes, they will be able to see that you've changed your relationship status on their news feed.

It depends on your privacy settings whether you have it in your newsfeed or set to only me, if you still have the person you broke up in your friends list then yes, they will be able to see that you are single and have changed your relationship status on, also depends on their settings too.
