Facebook Engagement: Why is it still there?

My fiancé and I recently broke up and I took the "Enganged to" thing off Facebook and it said it wouldn't appear or notify any of my friends and it didn't. My question is: Did it notify him? Because when I go to his page it says that he still engaged but of course now my name is not on there any more it just says "Engaged". Shouldn't it automatically disappear if I took it off?

Not trying to be rude, but no one worth their weight in salt takes anything seriously on Facebook. Even if it says "Engaged", no one who views it really thinks twice about it.

And the only part that gets taken off is your name, not the status in general. He probably just doesn't care about it.

He would have to take it off his for it to dissapear. Either he doesn't care, hasnt got around to it, or he's not ready to.
