Why are older people embracing Twitter?

I'm curious to know why many older adults have gotten into Twitter? You wouldn't see them typically on Myspace or Facebook throwing up a peace sign, but some seem to have interest in "Tweeting". I especially noticed this trend during political conversations with Republicans on the cable news networks.

twitter it's only text and you have to say it in less than 140 char so it's like sending a telegram
