What happens when you share a status with one person on Facebook?

You know where you choose who you want to see your status in the privacy setting, does it just say "shared with custom?" or does the person know you shared it with them?

The person you share it with will get the notification and no one else can see this.. I do this with photos with my girlfriend to save space on my phone. You can edit who you want to see it one by one or only friends, things like that.
