How do you get more twitter followers? :)?

At the moment I have around 25 followers, which is DISMAL!
I used to blog and get into youtube videos, I found both of these easy to get a following with but twitter is a lot harder :/

People follow if you have a good profile picture and needless to say if you tweet stuff that they can relate to and RT, the more people RT your stuff, the more people see it and the more people that will want to follow you. Everyone loves good quotes and funny jokes.
