Someone liked my instagram photo but I can't see who, why is this?
I had (on a few photos) a certain number of likes
Say for example it said 4 likes but I could only see 3 of the people whom liked it
This happened on a few specific photos, does it mean someone can hide their own likes?

Yes, that person may have a private account. You can only see it when they add you
