It is because you have become more aware of people's behavior.

No, people have always been self absorbed, inconsiderate and dramatic...social media just lets them show everyone just HOW much.

I find that on the internet people have balls that they wouldn't have if they were talking to someone in person to their face. I don't think it is the reason why people are that way in person, that is a personality thing.

I think it's a combination of phenomena. I think social networking, cellphones pinned to our thumbs and reality shows have convinced us we are of utmost importance. Every detail of our lives deserves to be chronicled in detail-- there are no boundaries. When I have a thought, it deserves an audience. In turn, I have the right to know everyone else's details, and I'm not afraid to ask. I am so important that I need to have my phone at all times-- in case I'm needed or I have something important to say. I shouldn't have to wait for a call back, wait to say what I want or wait my turn in line. Add to that our "upgradable life" culture. Whatever the item, we're told we deserve the bigger, better, shinier model. We should never settle for feeling less than extreme-- extreme happiness or extreme excitement. We're told we should never be bored, dissatisfied, overworked-- even temporarily. Anything that takes effort needs to be replaced. Tired of looking at your wife, your home, your job, your car, your life? "Upgrade it....you deserve the best!"
