How can I convince my parents to let me get a Facebook?
I am 14 years old, female. I just recently moved and I wish I could get one to keep in touch with friends back home. I have already mentioned it a few times, and mom said not until after we got moved and settled - this was a few weeks ago. Any tips on how to ask nicely and also act mature for the next days?
Because I would be too busy with chores and cleaning and "getting settled" in my room and unpacking in order to "mess around" on the computer. Ads |

Make a power point, and list down the ideas, on why you want your facebook account. Mention in the power point, that you want a facebook to keep in touch with your old friends. Put a pro and con list in the power point as-well. At the end, put yes or no with the facebook sign. Here's what my powerpoint looked like:
First Slide/ Title slide: Can I please have a Facebook? SAVE ALL QUESTIONS TO THE END! DO NOT SAY NO RIGHT NOW 2nd slide: Why I want one: I don't want to be the only one without Facebook, all of my friends have on and I feel left-out. I only will use it to communicate with my friends. I want to find my old friends and chat with them. What if we move and I will miss my friends, I can still talk with them. 3rd slide: The Cons & The Pros Cons: Yes there is really weird people out there. (See next slide) Pros: I can talk with friends and you. I won't feel left out. I won't get addicted to face book. I will be happy. 4th slide: How to resolve the cons Every time I post something on face book or every time someone wants to add me I will show you and you can approve if it is right. I can set my security settings to only friends and family will be able to view my page. I won't talk to anyone I don't know. I am not stupid and post dumb stuff like “Now I am pooping in the bathroomâ€. Also I am not stupid I can add you on Facebook and I don't care if you embarrass me. You can watch me 24/7 on the thing 5th slide: Now you see why I want one and the things that come with it, and you know I will be careful. I just really want one because everyone has one and I don't, I feel left out, and I want to talk with my friends, and I barely talk on the phone. Also I rarely bring friends to the house. So please think about it, I know I might be young but I am mature. So please think about it carefully. 6th slide: So.... Yes or No ? My mom said yes after that, she said she loved my planning and effort to get towards what I wanted. She said it was very informal and she could reason, and she said this was very kind and nice of me, to do, a powerpoint to explain and give reasons on why I want a facebook. Works like a charm ^o^, Hope this helps, ~AlpacaxoPugs |
