Close friends on Facebook?

When someone adds you as a close friend on facebook , do you get notifications whenever they update their status? Because over the pass few days I have had 2 notifications from separate people saying, something which was posted over a day ago. Has anyone got any idea of what it is?

if you add anyone as close friend then you will get their updates notification. if anyone add you as close friends then you wont get their notification
