Starting a Freelance Writing/Marketing Business?

I've previously worked independent contract jobs in writing/marketing/pr/social media/SEO. I've had great success in these jobs and would like to start my own freelance business. Beings I have great experience with online marketing, I figure it should be relatively easy to get myself exposure.

Are there any laws regarding starting a business like this I should know?

Other than setting up your business legal and tax paperwork, deciding on your pricing and how you will get clients you sound good to go.

Be sure to get permission from the companies you did this type of work for as a independent contractor if you use any materials you created for them. Also if you signed any contracts while working, read them carefully before going forward. Sometimes there are sneaky little clauses in contractor agreements that can come back to bite you.
