seeing status updates on facebook from non-friends?

Today I saw a status update from one of my friends on facebook, but when I went to their profile, it says we are not friends on facebook. None of my other friends liked or commented or shared it, it literally just popped up with the rest of the updates. I can't tell if they unfriended me or a facebook mistake. Help!

I think that friend has removed you from his friendlist, so you are their friend subscriber (friend subscriber means you can see in your newsfeed, their public updates ) . That is why you got the updates. Go to their profile you would see "following", click unfollow. to stop their updates.
