Was my friend's facebook deleted?

I had a dispute with one of my friends today... I didn't want to see him in my chat box so I turned off the chat for him.. several hours later I notice that his name was blackened out from my inbox.. I searched his name and he was still there but it took me to a broken page.. I know I was not blocked.. but did he delete it or is it showing up like that because I turned him off from my chat?

I would say its deleted but FB has not taken it out from his friends searches yet, Have another search tommorow and see if its there or not. If that doesnt work, search his name on google with his location, or ask a mutual friend whether they can see them or not
