Why wont my relationship status change on facebook show up on my friends news feeds?
I want it to be so people see in their newsfeeds ... went from being 'in a relationship' to 'single' when I change it a box above single says 'this will not show up in the newsfeed' or something like that?

I did a FB Single status test and you are correct >> "This will not appear in News Feed".
