Why wont my relationship status change on facebook show up on my friends news feeds?

I want to make it so when people go into their newsfeed they see .... went from being 'in a relationship' to 'single' How can I do this?

Goto your profile page, then click on About. There you will see a category of Basic Information, Click on Edit and change the relationship status as-per you need, after that on the right side you will see a small box, click on it and make it public by clicking on 'Globe' Icon.
