how can i temporarily inactivate my facebook account, not permanently delete it?

I am trying to make my account temporarily inactive but I don't want to lose any content, my friends list, photo album, etc.

De-activate it... It doesn't delete it permanently, but gives you the option of coming back once you log back in. I think you have a few months until it would delete or something like that.

Just go to your account settings and deactivate your account, when you want to return log in again with your email and password, everything will be as you left it.

Just deactivate it, your profile will disappear off Facebook until the next time you log in.
