Does your profile picture "have" to be of yourself?

My mother just got pissed because I changed my profile picture of myself to an anime character. Personally, I find my interests more interesting than myself and got tired of seeing a picture of myself 24/7- besides, I cannot relax when I take pictures so I always look decently awkward and not as good looking as in person (not being conceited here- I'm not the best looking, but I'm decent.)

So, does your profile picture "have" to be of yourself nowadays or something?

No, you can put a picture of an animal, anime character, etc.. I have a picture of a cat with a duck. Your mom shouldn't get mad at you for that, it's your Facebook not hers.

Listen to your mother, she is right. It isn't a mandatory facebook regulation is that what you're thinking? They won't shut your account down, but it's better to have a picture of yourself on your profile. You'll get more chicks if you have a picture of yourself instead of an anime character. If you can never relax when you have your picture taken, get drunk and go to a party and take some pics.

No. Your profile pic can be anything you want. Your mom shouldn't be so mad about that. Same thing to me when I take pictures of myself, so I always put a picture of one of my cats. But if you want your friends to identify you more easily, you could put a picture of yourself.

No. It can be anything you want. If you have a cute pet, you could upload its pictures. If you like a cartoon character, you also could upload his pictures...
