Whatssapp backup restoring?

Hi! I upgraded my phone from a Huawei ideos to a galaxy note 2. I'm having trouble restoring my messages as the app keep keeps crashing.

What I do is:

copy my whatssapp folder from my previous phone to the new phone and then install whatssapp. This gives me the option to restore the backup. It successfully restores the messages and then immediately crashes.

I have tried this multiple times even with previous backup files. renaming them msgstore.db.crypt

what can I do?

You can't restore Whatsapp messages on other devices by using other cells Whatsapp folder. Even when you update you app it loose all the previous data so there is no way of getting it back.

you don't need to copy paste any backup folder... just download whats apps re-enter your old number ( which you used previously..) then there will be a pop up asking you to restore old message.. click yes
this iwill take more like 5 to 10 minutes no matter how much conversation you had before
