hello people I want to see if you can please fill me in more on this topic. I'm discussing this in a critical thinking class I have no ides why she picked this topic. OK so she gave us an article on the mosque zero project. It includes the Interview with Mr. Rauf and in that interview he said that the united states of America deserved the terrorist attack on 9/11. He also said that Osama is made in the USA? what does that mean? The controversy with Sarah palin and her twitter account and face book saying "doesn't it stab are hearts as it does our throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims , pls refudiate. including a drawing. Please tell me some more information that I missed like park51,Imam ,Islamic radicals and Cordoba house and anything else.

You should talk about how it is funded by the CIA. Talk about that and it will surely get your classes' attention. It's the truth... Check out this article - http://www.infowars.com/ground-zero-mosq...ted-event/

Rauf is a slumlord.

Rauf owns rental property that is a fire hazard to his tenants.

Rauf is also is financial difficulty.

Rauf is using the Mosque to shake down money from Muslims in The Middle East.

The Mosque is merely a scam created by Rauf to shake down Muslims for money.

Imam Rauf is blaming America for what Al Quida did, 9/11. Basically by doing so he is sanctioning terrorism while he hypocritically speaks of peace and tolerance. Most Islamist are mad that America has helped Israel and thus they feel America deserved 9/11. What they leave out of their argument is America has helped the Palestinians with aid too.

Look at the history of Cordoba. The Cordoba Mosque was first built is Spain as a victory mosque, the same is true here. Look up jihad and stealth jihad. Look up what taqiyya means and then you will understand Imam Rauf's ulterior motives and also you will be able to see behind the smooth talk.

"America Deserved 9/11" is not actually what he said. Actually, he said the opposite:
"I wouldn’t say that the United States deserved what happened..."

He then went on state that American actions had created the motivation for the attacks:
"...but the United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened."

The suggestion that "Osama is made in the USA" is presumably a reference to the fact that we actually armed and trained Bin Laden, to fight against the Soviets during the could war. Our actions (and those of other countries) in the middle east over the past several decades undoubtedly play a role in the emergence of radical Islam and its violent opposition to western nations. So what the Imam is saying is that Americans effectively created Bin Laden as an enemy figurehead - he is a product of our country, or "Made in the USA".

...

The Palin twitter post was basically a statement that the Mosque idea is hurtful to the family members of 9/11 victims, and a plea to the Muslims involved to abandon or relocate the project. This is basically the most tactful way that anybody came out against the thing, so it's unclear to me why it should have been controversial.

...

"Refudiate" is not a word. Its something we've all been making fun of Palin for saying, when she probably meant to say "refute".
[Edit: having bothered to look for sources, I now realize that this was in fact the same twitter post that you were quoting. That would be the reason for the controversy, I guess. A different source I found had apparently been edited so as to employ actual words.]

....

Y!A doesn't support drawings. Then again I'm not a Muslim, and have no clue what drawings might be involved in a counter argument anyway. Unless you are thinking about a map showing where the site is in relation to Ground Zero, or possibly what the proposed building would look like.

...

I don't know why she picked this topic either. As a previous question brought to light, it's a terrible issue to demonstrate the distinction between logical and emotional reasoning.
