facebook mutual friend?

whenever a person whom shares mutual friends with me wants to add me, Facebook always shows up only a certain friend of mine among those mutual friends.. Anyone knows if this is just a random choice of people in your friendlist or what? I'm just curious about the chance of that certain people set up some friend "option" to me (for instance: close friend or etc,..) so it always shows his/her name among the mutual. Thanks.
