Black is the absence of color. This means that if there was no light at all, it would be black.

Which way you do it?
On a monitor representing light physics, lack of colour. On paper representing printer chemistry, full of colour. |

Black is absence of color, so far as the colors in light. When mixing colors in a chemical medium (like making paint) black is all colors together or the extreme dark spectra of a color.
