How do I know if someone put me on restricted on Facebook?
I still receive messages from this person but I can't view their profile

They blocked you. Unless they unblock you you won't be able to view anything on their profile, or find them on Facebook.

If You can't see somebody's profile, it means they've blocked you.

To know if a friend restricted you, open their profile see his posts, if you are (only) seeing posts marked public by globe icon and nothing else then you're in their restricted list.
Also open their information page check if you see only public details or every detail...you'll know.
