Sent a friend request now I'm a follower?

I sent a friend request to someone and it says I'm a follower now, it also says "pending friend request" does that mean he pressed "not now" instead of ignoring my request or has he not done anything yet?

It happened to me too, it's automatic.

After you send the friend request, it automatically makes you a follower until he accepts the friend request. .. If you just want to send the request only, just click "unfollow" after you send the request.
