Men: Is it ok to chat a guy first on facebook?

He used to like me and a week ago HE randomly contacts me on FB chat out of the blue and we end up flirting and deciding that we should catch up soon. The next night, he contacts me again just saying "Hey" I wasn't logged on but later I responded "Hey, how's it going?" but no answer. So I was thinking since he's already made the first move can I send him "Hey Eric " or would a guy think the girl is too forward?

Most men like it when the female attempts make an effort at contacting them first. If you are really interested in him the you shouldn't feel any hesitation in calling, texting, messaging him first. if you never contact him first he might feel like you aren't too interested in him. after all every type of communication works both ways.
