HELP! Do I have to buy a sim card to use this phone?
My cousin got me a new unlocked iPhone 4 as a gift. This will be my first iPhone.

I just want to use the iPhone for downloading apps and going online, and I just want to do all of that through wifi. I do not want to get a carrier/plan for it.

I keep getting mixed answers about this question: Do I need to buy a sim card just to activate the phone and use it? (the phone is unlocked, brand new in box.. doesnt come with a sim card)

Can I just start the phone up without any sim card and immediately start using wifi?

You don't need a sim if you don't need to make calls or texts. You can use it for WiFi, that's how I am answering you now.
