how do people get so many followers on instagram without using hashtags or following many people?
i seen people get thousands of followers without using hashtags on their pictures and they don't follow many people and all their pictures have lots of comments and likes

Well I always wonder that too, but they could be getting shoutouts, and giving them.
also, they could have used popular hashtags at first or use hashtags once in a while so people would notice their account
lastly maybe they just post what people want to see, for example a 1D fanpage will have lots of followers because there are a lot of 1d fans (LIKE ME!!)
