the tunnel became over crowded and a panic occured , causing a stampede when more people kept coming in from the rear of the tunnel, it was way over crowded and people just started to behave terribly and stuff , which leads to the stampeded where like 19 or something people were killed

Nineteen people were stampeded to death. In an area in Dusseldorf fit to accomodate 500,000 people, there were 1,500,000. The deaths occured when too many people tried to pass through a tunnel at the same time. Some feel it was poor crowd control caused by lack of funding. Other venues had already turned down the parade because they could not afford the crowd control necessary. CNN

The grounds were designed to hold only 250,000, but 1,4 million people showed up. Apparently, there was only one entrance...a tunnel...into the main area. There was panic when some people were being turned away, because there were just too many people in attendance. The result...21 people were crushed to death.
