Don't want mom to see relationship status on facebook! Little help?

So I recently got a boyfriend and his mom and my mom are really strict with dating but we want to publicize our relationship. I know that from the settings we can easily privatize it from our parents but our question is, when people like/comment on it, will it show up on the newsfeed? and also if say his mom goes on his profile will she see the relationship status even if we "hid" it from her?

Go to "Custom" setting and put her name in the box that says "Don't share with this"
