Does anyone understand the idea of facebook likes?
I'm a pretty introverted and not active on facebook, so I barely have any likes on my picture. My cousin on the other hand is very active on facebook and gets many likes on her pictures (100+) and she's very arrogant about it, like she tells me that the reason why I don't have likes on my picture isn't because I'm inactive on facebook, it's because I'm really ugly and no one likes me. I really don't understand this because several people around me do think I look nice and I'm really trying not to measure my self worth on facebook likes, but her comment really hurt.
Do facebook likes mean anything at all?

All it means is that your cousin is a bee-yotch. Facebook likes mean nothing. REAL friends mean something.

Facebook will get you no where in life. Who cares about facebook likes. Good for her, now she needs to get a life she can brag about.
You got a like, big whoopty f***in do.

I hate those stupid "like this if they're a cute couple, like this if your a 90s baby." How about stfu nobody gives a damn about them or how many likes you can generate. Your own cousins putting you down because your not active on a social network. Sounds ridiculous because it is.

Your cousin sounds like a self-absorbed, attention ho who thrives on making others feel bad.

Facebook "Likes" mean nothing except for the fact that the more "Likes" a person has, the less of a real life that person has. Keep doing what you're doing and don't listen to that idiot cousin of yours who only wants to put you down to make herself feel better about herself. Don't let her comments hurt you. She's probably jealous that you have REAL friends.

I don't think so. Facebook is just a social site but it can't affect your personal life. Also people who give only nice picture and gets like they aren't really too cute. Don't upset with the matter. If you want to challenge your cousin you can give like to your facebook photo. I suggest this site for you. And again say virtual life isn't matter in real life what is you thats the matter

First, I need to say that the other person who answered saying that Facebook doesn't affect your real life couldn't be more wrong! Many people have lost jobs, scholarships and even relationships because they posted lewd pictures or made nasty comments about their bosses, co-workers and schools. See the article I reference about this.

Now, back to your question: As for how many likes your pictures or posts get, this is not important at all. You say yourself that you are introverted and not very active on Facebook. Your cousin, on the other hand, seems to live her life through and for Facebook and to her, getting likes is a huge boost to her ego. By telling you that you are ugly and that no one likes you, she is showing what a truly ugly person SHE is on the inside.

She may be your cousin, but if I were you, I would block her so she can't see what happens on your Facebook page. If you don't want to do this, then please try to ignore her rude comments. She's trying to put you down to make herself look better. Don't let her comments hurt you. You may be an introvert and not have many friends, but the friends you do have a probably real who actually like the person you are. Your cousin, on the other hand, has a whole lot of friends who are just as fake as she is. Be proud of who you are.
