basically there are many more people going online to find out about products if that a company has to offer if the company has a facebook page the consumer will get updates in their facebook page of the company. if the company has twitter the consumer can get updates from that. if the company has an email signup box then the company can send emails directly to the consumer (im not talking about spam im talking about the consumer requesting more information)some even with the consumers name in the emails making them feel a connection with the company.

most importantly word of mouth is very important when advertising a product especially if that product information is coming from a friend because then it is more trustworthy. take for example when i saw the pre-screaning of Easy A and posted on my status that it was an awesome movie then my friends will be more compelled to see the movie. i also rated the movie on the facebook fanpage not only my friends can see that but also the people going to the page to look for more information maybe to decide if the movie is what they wanted to see.
