Is this a spam or hack of facebook?

I log on and in my messages from what I can read says "Hi Sarah, one of your friends sent you a message.! To read the..." I haven't opened it yet, but there's no specified sender from what I can see of it.
In the part that would show the person that sent you a message the picture is just mine and then my name, so it's basically anon.
Is it safe or no?

It was probably a phishing scam. once they shut down the fake users, the pictures go away as do the names, but the message will remain.
