Does FACEBOOK have a privacy setting so only a few people can see something I post?

I want to change my relationship status but because of having dodgy parents, I want to hide it from them and anyone who might let them know. Is there a way I can have only a small group of people that I have specifically chosen to see it? The specific people setting indicates for those you do and those you don't. If I just put the people I WANT to see it in the box does that mean all my other friends can't see the status or do I have to put the rest in the box which says hide?

Yes, Goto Groups, set up a group and put your friends into it. In privacy make the group private then only those in the group can access.
