Question about facebook?

I sent someone a message few days ago but received no reply. The message was not marked as "seen" so I assumed that she hasn't received the message. But today when I checked it said that she has been last active about an hour ago. But the message is still not seen. I'm confused. Has she seen my message and ignored it?

She could have been on FB but not gone into her message page. Then she would have been on but not seen your message. Also she could have opened message page but not clicked on your message to open it. Its much like emails. you can log into your mail and not open or see every message.

She will have known that she had a message, the little red envelope thing. She hasn't been on it though so she didn't know who it was from

This happens only in two situations :
1. She didn't seen your message at all.
2. She saw your message and "marked it unread"

in both situations you can't find out whether she have seen the message or not !!

If your message was small, then she probably only read it in the tab rather than opening it.

For example if you wrote "hello" you can see it in the preview tab because its just one word. If you wrote a long sentence, she would need to to open the mail to actually read the whole thing.

If it doesn't say "seen" she has not clicked to open the mail, but like I said if the message is small enough to be read in the preview tab then she doesn't actually need to open it. So until she opens it then it will say "seen"

They will know they got a message as they would have got a notification but they chose to ignore it or simply forgot to open it and reply
