why does my boyfriend appear to be online on facebook when he says he isn't?

he recently got the messenger app on his phone, and most of the time when he says he is offline facebook says the same thing. but sometimes when he says he is busy doing something, 20 minutes later it will say that he is online, so then i ask him why he is on fb, and he tries to tell me it's his phone. but if that was the case, wouldn't his phone say that he is online all the time, not just sometimes? because when i know he is sleeping, facebook reflects that he is not online, so why would it all of a sudden say he is when he isn't?

Phone apps can be like that. Some even detect motion, so even if one is not actively using said apps, they may still claim the user is online.

Smartphones have this feature called me "keep me Logged in" this common among st many social networks it could be that your boy friend is busy but his phone is connected to the internet so his Facebook messenger is connected showing him, as online.... but remember online doesnt mean he is looking at his screen it just means his messenger is connected

If He Doesint Log Out it Will Say Hes Online So Even if He Closes out the App on His Phone That Does Not Log Him Out So He Will Stay Online on His Phone
