Why do people hate Facebook?

Personally, I just can't see it. I mean, Facebook has been one of the most popular websites created for the Internet, because almost a billion people use it. The reason I like it though, is because I can use it to look back on important events in my life, which is what Facebook Timeline is for. Think about it...in the future you can show your kids what you used to do as a kid with Facebook. So why is there so much hate?
Bill, there's a reason to show people those statuses. What if you just got accepted into a university or had your first child? With Facebook, you can tell everyone about it, really fast.

I don't see the point of Facebook. I don't understand why people want to post the stuff they do for the whole world to read about. I tried looking at it once and it was just mindless garbage.
