Is there a way to hide friends that I have recently added (or are going to add/accept) from my timeline?

I know there is a manual way to do this, when I see the post on my own wall on Facebook mentioning the newly added friend, but I was wondering if there is just a setting to turn off showing "Friends added" activity from my wall.

You should hide your friendlist from others then it wont show.
From Timeline click on the friends tab, it directs you to friends page, click edit on the top of the page, click on the audience button and select "only me"
