Why do people put (y) at the end of facebook status?

Some put a capital Y which doesn't work, like writing <3 which is a heart.

if you check your chat it has a small smiley on the lower right corner, if you click on it ,a small tab opens with some of the smileys you can use on facebook.
the thumb up at the end of that tab is the (y).
if you click on it you can also see it written on your chat before you send it

check the other smileys so that you'll know how they are typed

in the right bottom corner & the thumbs up smiley
is on the 3rd row bottom right corner, if your sending
a message to somebody the smiley face is in the top right corner
