Customizing your Facebook posts?

If I customize my Facebook posts so that way some people can't see them will that also make it to where people I'm not friends with can't see them? Is the only way someone I'm not friends with can see my posts is if I put it on 'public"

there is something in the setting that says: friends / friends of friends / limited / custom
if you pick friends then only people you have on your friend list can see you you pick friends of friends then both friends and non friend can see limited is where evrey one can see but the people you go to their profile and change their setting to limited and custom is for when you only want one person to see
