My mom wants to add me as a friend on facebook. What should I do?
I am 22 years old. My mother and I don't get along very well. We have had lots of problems in the past. There are a lot of things on my facebook page that I don't want her to see. For instance, she doesn't know that I'm bisexual, atheist, and in an open relationship. She would react hysterically to all these things.
My mother is very intrusive and controlling. I've tried blocking her but she keeps opening up new accounts to keep an eye on what I'm doing. I decided to open up a fake account. Within days, she sent me a friend request to my fake account. My fake account only has like 4 posts on it and I only have like 5 friends on it so it's probably not very convincing. What should I do?

Tell her you decided not to use facebook anymore due to work/other issues.

Good luck!

It sounds like most of the feature and options in place won't be of much help to you (the facebook privacy groups and the fake accounts like you've made) if you don't want her to know that you aren't showing her the full story.

It's probably not the best answer to hear, but I think you're gonna need to bite the bullet and tell her, unless there are other issues that would cause that you haven't mentioned (i.e. you're in college and she's paying, you're living with her and she'd kick you out, etc.) I get the feeling she'll be unconvinced with a lot of how you try to hide it, and at some point it's gonna get out anyways.

Hi, It sounds like you care about your mom wnough that you do not want to hurt her feelings by not accepting her as friend. I would just continue with the fake account. I think we all have one at some point in our lives. You are 22 and do not have to share everyrhing with her anymore. You can always just ignore her friendship request. Luckly i dont have the problem since i have not joint fb yet. Take care

Well with FB's settings u can make ur friends list only visible to u so she wouldnt be able to see how many firends u have. And maybe throw in a couple more links (songs from youtube, pictures, news, etc.) to convince her that ur account is active & not fake. Other than that,ur just gonna have to tell her,its up to u!

Add her as per my point of view.. And you make a brand new account hidden from her. You are big and smart enough to hide your account from her. Best of luck.
