Is there any way you can log into someones fb account just by email?
i'm not a hacker...this isnt for me its for a close friend...she set up a facebook account a couple of months ago with an old email address which i reccommended she used because i get a ton of emails from facebook and it drives me insane..so she used an old email address, but didnt use the account after setting it up for a while for some reason, and now she has tried to access her account, but cannot remember her password, only her email, and she cant reset it because if she resets it they send it in an email and she cant access her email login either...is there any way she can get into her account just by knowing her email ?

No, unfortunately she would need to know her password to Facebook, or know her password to her old e-mail to do a reset.

No. That's not how facebook users authenticate themselves.

No. This would be the same as unlocking your front door by knowing where the door knob is. You wouldn't want that type of security. As far as facebook e-mails go, you just have to turn them off. I never get e-mails from facebook unless I request it. This is done by going to notification settings.

As far as your friend, she'll have to contact Facebook customer support. Usually, there is an additional way to reset your password by knowing answers to security questions. If this can't be done, then she will either have to contact the support team or start a new facebook.

I would set a new account up and put the password somewhere safe in case you forget it again

As for the excessive emails from F/book, go into your F/book Notification settings and change them. I get hardly any now after changing my settings
Have a look here from F/book help
