How do I make selected pictures on fb viewable to public?

Every time I make it public all my pictures are shown. This also goes for other things like status, videos etc how do I make it selected for that one particular picture, video, status etc?

I have my settings for Friends only but things I want public just post it than go to the picture in question, under you name at the top and after the date left click the icon and choose public. It only changes the attribute for that picture.

it all depends on which album the picture is in, as they have different privacy settings

put it in an album all by itself & make the settings for that album where everyone can view it.
