How can I get my parents permission to create a Facebook account ?
I'm a 16 year old girl. I really want to be on facebook.
All my friends are on it and they always ask me to make a profile. I want to because I'd love to keep in contact with friends I don't see often.
My parents have kinda always been against it ( bullying stories they've heard etc)
I understand where they're coming from but I feel I'm mature enough to handle it.
I can't just make an account as if my parents find out they will kill me because I didn't tell them ?
How can I convince them to let me use it ?? Thanks for answering if you do Smile

You can just basically say what you said up here that you really want to be on facebook and all your friends are on it and I want to keep in contact with your friends that you don't see otften. I understand where you guys are coming about why you guys aren't a facebook fan but I feel I'm mature enough to handle it. I think the reason that there are bullying stories is because people's facebook friends are more like the entire grade or school of there's. In that case some of there facebook friends aren't even there friends they probably just accept and send friend requests to people that aren't even there friends because they probably think it's cool to have hundreds or thousands of facebook friends. You can just tell them that also because I've have facebook friends that try to get people's attention and they are friends with people that I don't even think they are even there friends and they annoy them on facebook and It's just like why are they on your friends list if they aren't even there friends?

try talking to them, let them know that you will be careful when it comes to privacy and all that stuff. maybe they will ask for your password (i know a lot of my friends parents did that) but give it to them. they will most likely check your fb in the first month and then drop it. just have a chat with them, that's all you need to do.

Well.. my sister (who was 13-14 at the time) would only be allowed to have a FB as long as mom knew her password.

You're 16 and you still don't have a Facebook? You should just create one behind their backs if they're that mean!

The best advice I can give you, since you are of an age where your parents are in control of such things, and are obviously looking out for your best interest, and to protect you is the following.

Sit down with them, and explain not only that you want to open a facebook account, but WHY. Explain that you want to maintain contact with friends that you would otherwise not speak with very often.

Ask them their reasons for not letting you open an account, and reason with them, explaining, in detail, how you can, or feel you can overcome those issues. Lastly, promise them that if a real problem arises, you won't hide it, but come to them for help. Show your maturity, and willingness to work with them. This may help you to get what you want, and them to trust you more.

I hope it helps.
