Why do the same friends always show up on my facebook profile?

On your facebook profile, it shows 9 of your friends. For me and I think everyone else, it always shows the same 9 friends. Why is that? I know it isn't the people you interact with because I only use facebook to read other people's posts. I rarely post and only use chat when I need to get a hold of someone. My guess is that it is people who view your profile. My mom is always on the list of 9 friends and it makes sense because she is constantly looking at my profile. A few of my cousins are also on the list which makes sense to me too because they always like all of my posts. This is such a big deal for me because my crush is always on the list. If it goes by views, it would make me happy to know that she is stalking me (sounds weird right haha).

It can be someone whose profile you visit a lot or someone who looks at your profile a lot or it can be someone whose statuses you always like or it can be someone who you chat with. Or sometimes it will just be a random person
