Is there a way to temporarily hide my likes on Facebook?

I've had a Facebook account for a while now, but rarely used it. I want to fill out my likes and stuff like that, but if I do, won't it spam all over the news feed for my friends? I hate seeing pages of likes pop up and take over the news feed, so is there a way I can add things I like without anyone being bothered by the notifications on the news feed, and then let people see my likes without it popping up all over everywhere? Sorry if that's explained horribly. Hope you understand what I'm getting at thanks

Go to your privacy settings and set to "only me". or you share some posts with friends only.
