How do you keep Facebook from announcing that you just liked a page?

Now please don't get this confused with hiding pages that you already have liked, I already have all the details on how to hide pages liked. What I am trying to prevent is when facebook announces that you just liked a page e.g. Janet likes Walmart.

there is no way to just turn that off - that's the whole point in liking on facebook - to share your activities with your friends - if you dont want anyone to see it, then dont click on like

there is an option for you tho... it's called the restricted list... you add some of your friends to that list, and then they wont see your likes or comments anymore... but they wont see your status updates either then
